Hello

I am Sophie E. Strack, the author of the Season Sisters series. I am a teenager and I was homeschooled from forth grade until high school. I am on the high school dance team and I love playing board games with my siblings. I am the second oldest of seven kids and the oldest girl. I live with my family in Kansas City.

My Author Story

When I was eight years old, my sisters, neighbors, and I started playing a game we called Season Sisters. We played it in my neighbor's garden where there were four stained-glass concrete stones. After playing the game for many months every day after school, we decided to make it a book. I was the main writer, but the others helped a little bit. I had always loved writing and had written many short stories that I would tell to my sisters at bedtime. When I had been writing it for about a year, the others gave up on it. They moved on and wouldn't play the Season Sisters game anymore. I kept writing, but soon I started to give up, too. I set it aside for two whole years before finding it in my "time will tell' box. I decided it wasn't bad and rewrote it again and again. My parents were - and still are - always supportive of me, but I don't think they realized that writing was more than a passing hobby until I finished writing my first real book. When the people around me saw how dedicated I was to it, they began to see that I was a real writer. When I was twelve, I had my family members edit it. Then, I self-published 'Season Sisters and the Hidden Island' through KDP. Soon, I started writing the second book. The hardest part was that I suddenly knew I was an author and too many ideas were coming to me at once. I started an Ideas notebook to write down all of my story ideas in the same place. I had the problem of working on too many stories at once, so it took more than two years to publish book two. During that time, I figured out a system to help me work through writer's block and an overflow of new ideas. I hope my story will encourage writers of all ages to never give up even when it is hard and to never let anyone tell you that you are too young - or too old - to be a published author. Surround yourself with positive people and other writers around your age and help each other achieve your dreams.

My Testimony

This is my salvation story. I have been growing up in a Christian family my whole life. We always go to church and pray before we eat, all of that. I really didn't care until third grade, but by then I was so worried all of the time, I didn't really realize that my relationship with God could be something more than what it was - me praying to this creative genie who wants me to obey Him. For me, there wasn't just that one thing, that one moment where I knew that Jesus had died for me and saved me and changed the whole course of my life. Instead, it happened gradually over the course of my middle school years. After I joined youth group and started to go to church camps and read the Bible on my own, willingly, I learned who God really is and I was able to trust Him. Now, I pray almost constantly about everything - good and bad and funny and serious. I can safely say that Jesus is my best friend. I can tell Him anything and everything and I know that He will never judge me or abandon me or gossip about me to anyone. He is the perfect friend and His other disciples whom I am friends with have been amazing role models for me. I don't really worry anymore and I don't feel alone anymore and I am no longer looking for that thing that will satisfy me. God is that; He and He alone can satisfy fully - to the point where you will never need more. Yes, it is hard to surrender everything and to let God satisfy you and it isn't something that you do once and then you are done. It is a continuous, daily choice of faith over fear, life over death, giving everything for and to the one who gave everything. Maybe it is a little clich`e to say that I am a Christian and that Jesus is my best friend, but I need Him so much that I no longer care what other people think. All I want to do is glorify God with my life and spread the gospel through writing.
